During summer break it was time build a new furniture that houses my extending cd collection. The desire to show (some of the) album arts combined with the efficiency of stacking cd’s is reached by designing a multi layered timber object.
The horizontal layers houses front-faced cd’s, while the rest of the cd’s is placed on diagonals. None of the planks are mitred, their all simple layers stacked on top of bolts. The in between space on the bolts is filled with stainless steel rings to secure the distance of each plank, it also gives the structure some air. The timber planks are bolted at the intersections. Therefore the frame is extremely stable due the triangles.
The design is programmed in Revit, in the building phase I got some help from my father.
